Dr. Barrett received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Hearing and Speech Sciences from the University at Buffalo and her doctorate degree from the University of Maryland – College Park. She completed her residency through the Henry Ford Health System in May 2017.
Dr. Barrett has primarily worked in otolaryngology clinics in Maryland and Michigan. She has also worked as a researcher through Walter Reed Military Medical Center and the University of Maryland – College Park, primarily focusing on speech perception and understanding in real-world background noise environments, as well as the effects of visual distractions on speech perception. She has extensive experience in general diagnostics and treatment of hearing loss with hearing aids from a variety of manufacturers.
Dr. Barrett is a member of The American Academy of Audiology and is certified by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. She has co-authored several research articles published in The Journal of The Acoustical Society of America (JASA), JASA Express Letters, Ear and Hearing, Trends in Hearing. She has a first-authored research article entitled The Cafeteria Study: Effects of facial masks, hearing protection, and real-world noise on speech recognition.
Dr. Barrett’s primary goal in her clinical practice is to provide the utmost patient-centered care and guide patients through the journey of better hearing. She is passionate about learning, providing individualized care for each patient to help them hear their world better again.
